Silkworm

Silkworm depicts the afterlife conceived as an ethereal dream of elements found in various world religions and philosophies. I thought of soulful progression in this lifetime and our different selves, both the shadow and light sides. I researched symbols to represent Buddhism and more Easters cosmologies since I was questioning the idea of reincarnation and combined that with elements found in Western belief systems such as Christianity. I am often asked how I get my ideas, and I like to nearly fall asleep into a dream state and brainstorm an idea to access my subconscious, and that is how this piece on the afterlife came into being.
