False Memories in a Dream
False Memories in a Dream is part of a series I produced on symmetry in which I combined elements found in various folk religions, such as Santeria. Generally speaking, Santeria is a syncretic mix of Voodoo and Catholicism, with numerous Orishas or spirit entities. This painting represents Orisha Oshun, who protects her devotees and bestows purity, fertility, love, and sensuality upon them.
